Hi ya’ll!
Over the weekend, a man at the grocery store told me that I swallowed a little watermelon. He was being kind. I laughed and agreed. Baby should be here soon! I can finally say “I’m due next week”.
There is nothing like a quick last minute scramble to prepare but that is how I tend to do things. Unfortunately, my mom’s health is keeping my parents from coming but I am happy that my mother-in-law will be here as long as needed. The round trip to pick her up from the airport takes 4 hours so this Saturday is the only day I’m not allowed to go into labor. Probably shouldn’t be saying that out-loud, eh?!
In the meantime, I’m getting to work on making the guest room comfortable for her.
The room doubles as product storage when company isn’t here. This is what it normally should look like. (It triples as Jeff’s office):

And now imagine it filled with about 100 pillows (nicely bagged and organized, but still!). Ya. yikes. Time for a quick sale I think!
Tote bags are also on sale for a limited time. Stock up for birthday gifts, graduation gifts, etc. The totes especially would make great end-of-year teacher gifts! Click here to go to the sale section.

Warmly,

Updating...

Final countdown! In the medical world I’m considered “full term” at 37 weeks but I tend to go all the way to 40 – 41 weeks. Therefore, I’m not thinking anything exciting is going to happen anytime soon. I’m feeling ready though so he is welcome to come on out anytime he is all done growing! My daughter just requests that I try to avoid her birthday. I told her I’d do my best. ha. Hoping for an unmedicated and quick labor just like my last! Eeeks.
An ultrasound yesterday showed baby boy to be healthy and happy. He kept trying to kick away the probe while his femur bone was being measured. And had the hick-ups during the first half of the visit. I think amniotic fluid would give me hick-ups too. Poor guy. We didn’t get a good visual of his face as he had his hands covering it but he looks cute and the tech even pointed out his hair. (Our babies tend to be born with a surprising amount of black hair and it looks like this one won’t be an exception!) We took a family poll about whether we will finally have a baby who has my brown eyes rather than Jeff’s blue. Fun to imagine and think about…and soon we will find out!
I’m feeling as good as a 9 month pregnant woman can feel. Mostly energetic days though I wear out more quickly. Today I feel a little barfy. Sorry, that is too much info. I think it was the bag of clearanced Easter M&M’s I found at Kmart and shared with Cora and Noah yesterday. I rarely crave sugary things but yesterday those peanut M&M’s hit the spot. We consumed the whole bag between us. And I regretted it almost immediately. Blech. I’ve felt gross since and spent the day homeschooling from the couch. Back to my veggies and whole foods!
On a business note, I failed to mention that new market totes were listed in the tote sections.
And about 100 new pillow colors. Take a peek when you have a chance!
Warmly,

At the beginning of each month, my goal is to have a new batch of 100 pillows for you to view. This should help those of you who are waiting on certain colors…the first week of the month is the time to keep an eye out on the site. I spent the last few days photographing the latest round and am pleased to have them available. You’ll find a few solid colors but much of the new batch are ombre, rainbow and neutrals. All very nice and beautiful for changing up your spring decor! So take a peek through each category.

I especially like the new black and gray ombre pillows. They are available in all sizes (small, medium and large). Imagine how nice they would complement black and white portraits and other such classy decor!

And perfect for spring, these pastel rainbow pillows are sugary sweet! See the ombre section for all the rainbow pillows as there are some bright and bold versions as well.

Warmly,

What a difference 6 weeks makes. Baby has grown and so have I.
At 30 weeks gestation, babies are nearly 3 pounds and 16″ long. I’m up 17 pounds from my starting weight which is very good for me. I had a few issues with our son and never got to this weight-gain with him even though he was overdue. He still popped out at 7 pounds so all turned out fine. Not happening this time though…this baby definitely feels big to me already! Strong kicks keeping me up a lot at night.

It’s been a crazy couple weeks. You know it’s getting wiley when mom breaks out the chore charts. ha! Failing the first glucose test (for gestational diabetes) didn’t help any and sent me into an emotional tailspin. Thankfully, I just learned that I passed the 3-hour test with flying colors. So I can eat my beloved toast! Ah. That was a grueling test. Talk about a sugar crash…now I know what it means and should have had someone available to drive me home.
So…side by side photo. 24 weeks to 30 weeks. Ten more to go!

On a business note, I have a new round of pillows that I’ll be photographing today and starting to list through the weekend. Lots of ombre, rainbow and neutrals for anyone who is keeping an eye out. Hoping to have them all on the site by the end of the day Monday.
Photos of a previous batch follow…these are all sold but they’ll give you an idea of what the new ones look like.

Have a happy weekend!
Warmly,

Happy Valentine’s Day! To show a little love to my customers, I’m adding a surprise to each order that is placed this evening….a rose hair flower. No need to add one to your cart, I’ll place one (random color) in your package as I ship.

Take a peek at the handful of new rosette totes just listed this afternoon! Treat yourself to a rose for Valentine’s Day.
Spring blues and greens. As well as a few neutrals and brights.

Warmly,

Thank you!! When my missionary friend, Gala, told me of an opportunity last year to help a girls’ sewing school in Niamey, Niger, I was excited. This school teaches basic sewing skills to local girls so they might have a way to bring a source of income to their families. Unfortunately, many of the girls have trouble paying the $7 fee to cover the school tuition. The school uses the small fee to buy fabric and sewing supplies so they are often tight on finances and materials.
I had them sew pillow covers in a variety of traditional African prints and offered them on my site and today I’m pleased to share that all the pillow covers have sold! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting this worthy cause. And a thank you also goes out to Amy of MSN’s shopping site glo.com for a recent feature which I believe helped sell the final pillow covers.
The director of the sewing school was very pleased when he received the first round of proceeds in the fall. Due to a miscommunication, he was told all the products had sold at that time so he will receive a nice surprise when I send over the final funds from the last batch of sold products.

Thank you, again!
Warmly,

Notice for locals! Many of my items can be found locally at The Shoppe’s at Farmer’s Hardware on King St in downtown Boone, NC! I’m having a special sale on all scarves there. Through Christmas, the scarves will all be 25% off. Lots of nice colors in both ruffle and rose styles.

If you haven’t quite completed your Christmas shopping yet, this would be a great time to buy for friends and family or for yourself! You will also find my market bags, hair flowers, and more!
Warmly,

All orders are going out quickly! The same day or the next day (depending on the time the order comes in and whether the postman has come and gone already).
So you have more then enough time to place your scarf, pillow and market bag orders. I’ll be shipping right up until Christmas and can even offer overnight shipping as the big day gets closer. If you have any concerns about shipping times or questions about the products, feel free to use the contact form and I’ll respond asap!
Warmly,
Angie

Not only are the hair flowers now available on the site, but I was also able to get market totes up today! Links to the different printed, striped and solid styles are on the left. A great low price item that might help you cross off more of your Christmas gift list!

Soon we’ll have some rose styles ready as well!
Warmly,

New to the site! Our petite felted wool hair flowers are now available to online shoppers. Many of you have seen these locally and they’ve been so popular that I haven’t had enough to put them on the website. But finally, here they are! Click on the “Hair Accessories” link to the left. Each is a sweet 1 1/2 inch size and is attached to a strong alligator clip. They stay put—even in very fine hair.

They come on a card backer which makes them great for gift giving. Watch for more colors over the coming weeks.
Warmly,
